Running a Trend Micro Security Scan

Purpose

Protect your computer from viruses, malware, and other online threats by running regular scans with Trend Micro Security.


What You’ll Need

  • A Windows or Mac computer with Trend Micro Security installed

  • Internet connection (for updates)

  • Administrator access (if required by company policy)


Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Open Trend Micro Security

    • On Windows: Click the Start menu → search for Trend Micro Security → open the app.

    • On Mac: Open Applications → select Trend Micro Security.

  2. Update Virus Definitions

    • From the main dashboard, click Check for Updates.

    • Wait for the software to download the latest protection files.

  3. Run a Quick Scan

    • Click Scan → choose Quick Scan.

    • This checks common areas where threats are most likely to hide.

  4. Run a Full Scan (Weekly Recommended)

    • From the same menu, choose Full Scan.

    • This thoroughly checks your entire computer (may take longer).

  5. Review Scan Results

    • When complete, review any detected threats.

    • Follow on-screen prompts to Fix Now, Quarantine, or Delete suspicious files.

  6. Schedule Automatic Scans

    • Go to SettingsScheduled Scan.

    • Set up daily Quick Scans and weekly Full Scans for continuous protection.

  • Run a Quick Scan daily and a Full Scan weekly.

  • Keep automatic updates enabled for the best protection.

  • Avoid installing multiple antivirus programs — it may cause conflicts.
